Welcome to Brick Recycling

The Community

Last year Brick Recycling Company recycled over 1.5 million pounds of non-ferrous and 17.8 million pounds of ferrous material!

All this is possible because of YOU.  That’s right!  Everything shipped to the mills and made into new recycled products is a direct result of what we receive from our local residents, schools, businesses, universities, and municipalities.

Recycling can start at the home, in the office – basically anywhere.  It takes very little effort to put aside recyclable materials, and at Brick Recycling, we make it easy for you to take the next step.

The energy taken to recycle does not amount to a fraction of its benefits!  Take your standard aluminum soda can, for example.  According to the Aluminum Association, the recycling process saves 95% of the energy needed to produce new aluminum cans.  Currently, the average aluminum can contains 40% postconsumer recycled aluminum.  Clearly, there is a lot of room for improvement; and this is only referring to one recyclable material!
As we see it, the beauty of green is that everyone is capable of contribution – the possibilities are endless!

WHY RECYCLE?

It’s easy!
It’s good for the environment!
Recycling metal conserves natural resources. Recycling one ton of:

  • Steel conserves 2,500 lbs. of iron ore, 1,400 lbs. of coal and 120 lbs. of limestone
  • Aluminum conserves up to 8 tons bauxite ore and 14 megawatt hours of electricity

And it saves energy! Using recycled metals reduces greenhouse gas emissions because recycled materials use significantly less energy than virgin ore to manufacture new products. Also, using recycled materials avoids the use of landfills for waste.
It’s good for the economy!
In 2006, scrap recycling was a $65 billion industry employing 50,000 people
And you can make money!
Other Facts & Figures

  • 150 million tons of scrap materials are recycled annually in the US
  • 2 out of 3 pounds of steel made in the U.S. is manufactured using ferrous scrap
  • 60% of the metals and alloys produced in the U.S. are made from nonferrous scrap
